For X Ambassadors, success didn’t come overnight. The Ithaca, N.Y.-based band hit it big with the debut single from their first full-length, but an awful lot of pavement pounding preceded “Renegades” and the attention that came with it.
Onboard Paramore’s Parahoy! cruise last month, we chatted with Sam and Casey Harris about the long road to success.
The band played three sets onboard the Norwegian Pearl, as the cruise sailed from Miami to Cozumel, Mexico, and back. The saxophone-wielding frontman and his keyboardist brother talked about playing at sea, one of the many perks that’s come with getting “Renegades” into the top 20 of the Billboard Hot 100. They’re working their second single “Unsteady” and they hinted at what could be the next single from their 2015 album VHS.
X Ambassadors formed six years before VHS even dropped, so they’ve put in work to get where they are today. If you’re looking for some artistic inspiration, this episode delivers.
