“Silent Treatment,” the band’s much-awaited US debut came out in 2014 and was the follow up to 2012’s “All The Floats Will Rain.” The band went on tour with Of Monsters and Men around the US last year and took the Fisheye and the La Sardina to capture scenes on the road and backstage.
Get to know Highasakite in this quick but fun interview.
Hi guys, please introduce yourselves to the Lomography community.
We are Highasakite. A Norwegian band playing pop music. The members are Ingrid Haavik, Marte Eberson, Trond Bersu, Kristoffer Lo and me, Øystein Skar.
What inspires you to write music?
We get a lot of inspiration of traveling around the world and seeing things. We also love movies and TV-series, so a lot of inspiration comes from there!
What advice would you give to other budding musicians who want to make in in the music industry?
Work hard and don’t forget to have fun with the music. The joy can easily get lost when you have to deal with the music industry.
How was your experience shooting with Lomography cameras?
I’m so used to taking photos with my phone, where I can see the pictures after taking them. So it was a little bit scary but mostly fun.. exciting.
If your photos could have a soundtrack, what songs would it include?
Coldplay: Adventures of a lifetime
Cypress Hill: Illusions
Fever Ray: If I had a heart
Four Tet: Unicorn
Todd Terje: Inspector Norse
Any future plans for Highasakite?
Our next album are coming in May!! We are so looking forward to it. We have a lot of plans but we are not allowed to say it yet. But follow us on social media and we will post it there soon! But we are for sure going back to US and Australia in the autumn… the rest is a secret!
Highsakite is slated to release a new album in May this year. Listen to the band’s current repertoire on here.
